My favorite watergate in Amersfoort is Monnikendam, because it looks so friendly. And in spring the outside of the gate is full with flowers.

It would be amazing to have a place like that all to yourself to explore at will, but I think I'd be freaked out by any little noise you might hear in the middle of the night

This place is truly a victim of it's own hype. If you're thinking about going, then yeah, you'll enjoy the view but I'll warn you that you'll also be _enjoying_ some glaringly out of place repetitive beats at volume & also the _opportunity_ to pay £7 for a paper cup of San Miguel

I think it’s disgusting what the UK government did here they can sugarcoat it as much as they want with the reasons but people were just literally forced to leave with no real compensation or because the military wanted a gunnery range parts of the village is still out of bounds because of unexploded ordinance can you imagine the government trying to do such a thing now? Whatever the reason how good it may sound on paper when you wreck real peoples lives like they did here it’s unexcused usable

What seems so idyllic today may have not been for the average working man and his family at the time. It seems as if most of the children once grown had to leave to find work. But growing up there had to be almost fairytale like without the crudeness of the rest of the world.

It does look like a relaxing destination. - is there anything that tells you it's not really part of the UK, despite such an entwined past - like different money or pub opening hours, no speed cameras _ the mail boxes looked the same? Well that was absolutely Wonderful! We watched part 2 and then part 1 of the Isle of Man videos! The seanary was fabulous, even in the rain! The sea... Beautiful and clear! When Will tested the water..... We looked at each other and said.....oooo I bet it's cold. The food and Ice Cream looked great! That Roast Beef!!!😊 The Woodland walks were sooo atmospheric and in one shot we saw plenty of midges! Thank you!😊

What a funny coincidence - this week someone mentioned that the Gibb brothers (Bee Gees) were born on the Isle of Man. I wonder if they are related to the Gibb of that mansion ! Gotto look that up !
